Chesdin Animal Hospital

Chesdin Animal Hospital was established in 1984 by Dr. Richard A. Grenoble and his wife, Sharon. The practice had its beginnings in a wing of a farmhouse that was converted into a small but efficient animal hospital. As the practice grew, it became obvious that the time was right to build a facility to accommodate our growing staff and allow more space to do what we love best, help sick and injured animals, as well as to keep them healthy and happy. We moved to our present location in the spring of 1992.

Chesdin Animal Hospital is “full service”, and offers medical and surgical expertise, disease prevention, dental procedures, and many other services including grooming and boarding.

We are very proud of our staff, who are all dedicated animal lovers. They demonstrate their compassion and skills for our patients every day and strive to make our pet owners comfortable and informed about their pet’s treatment and progress.

Chesdin Animal Hospital is not only a family run business that has been around since 1984, the next generation has joined the practice. Recently we have had the pleasure to bring on Dr. Richard D. Grenoble as a full time veterinarian and his wife, Amy as Assistant Office Manager.

    Dr. Richard A. (Doc) Grenoble

    Retired Veterinarian
Dr. Grenoble graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1975 at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. Between VCU and vet school, he served 3 years in the Army. One of his assignments was in Frankfurt, Germany working in the military hospital as an Operating Room Technician. It was an amazing experience to work and learn from the skilled Army surgeons, and that experience left him with no doubt that he wanted a career that would combine his love for animals and medical and surgical abilities to help them. Becoming a veterinarian was a very natural and easy career choice.

After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Grenoble worked for several years at a veterinary practice before opening Chesdin Animal Hospital with his wife, Sharon, in 1984.

Although he is now retired, Dr. Grenoble can still be found at the animal hospital consulting and sharing his vast veterinary experience with the other doctors. He enjoys having more time to pursue his many interests, including fishing, gardening, photography, traveling, and spending time with his 2 beautiful granddaughters and his 2 dogs, Annabelle and Misty.
