Dr. Grenoble finishing a patient's chart
Richard A. Grenoble, DVM
Dr. Grenoble graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1975 at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. Between VCU and vet school, he served 3 years in the Army. One of his assignments was in Frankfurt, Germany working in the military hospital as an Operating Room Technician. It was an amazing experience to work and learn from the skilled Army surgeons, and that experience left him with no doubt that he wanted a career that would combine his love for animals and medical and surgical abilities to help them. Becoming a veterinarian was a very natural and easy career choice.
Dr. Grenoble and his wife, Sharon, who he met at VCU as a Pre-Nursing student, were married 2 weeks prior to starting vet school in Georgia. After graduation, they moved back to Virginia and he worked for several years in a small/large animal practice. Dr. Grenoble and his wife opened Chesdin Animal Hospital in 1984.
Most of his time is spent doing what he loves most, and that is caring for sick and injured animals. When not at the animal hospital, he can be found working in his Christmas Tree field, gardening, and any type of fishing. He especially likes salt water fishing with his 3 sons when time permits. Of course, a good Italian meal and movie will round out his day quite nicely.
